Sunday afternoon greetings from London to you, WTB - and thank you kindly for your wondrous writing. Just catching up with your beautiful prose during this brief London business trip before flying on to San Francisco Bay Area for more meetings. Thought of your lovely and extensive review of the Eastern and Oriental Hotel as I posted my all-too-brief impressions of that special property on my profile page. Your writing is a gift to all.
Your musings are wonderfully evocative and bring back memories of early post-university days living and working in London: ~ SW3 neighbourhood (Burton Court), with the occasional and beautiful "Sloane Ranger" completing the life. Present work has me back in London at least twice yearly; fortune and time permitting, reunions with far-flung family in London or Scotland.
Should you ever desire lodging, dining (and even aviation) suggestions for our fine home of Singapore, honoured to assist. Normally conclude with a subtle promotion of our cherished Singapore Airlines; rather, later this week, privileged to take an "Upper Class" working flight on Virgin Atlantic from a place you (and I) know well, Heathrow.
Thanks again, well traveled brit (and great handle by the way). Warm wishes to you and all from London,
robert

Thought Feeemason's Hall beautiful as well as interesting. Also highly recommend Leighton House and William Morris Museum from my recent trip, although the Morris is a bit of a trek. UK TR to follow when I finish the Wander South one. Got home yesterday, so output should pick up. Thanks again to WTB for a great report woth lots of good ideas.

Thursday, glad to hear you enjoyed the Leighton House too and even made it out to Walthamstow!
Robert - Glad to hear you're enjoying London and that you liked the E&O in Penang too. Thanks so very much for your kinds words, which were greatly appreciated. Sometime the blog seems like too much work, but your reply reminds me why I bother.
We will certainly hit you up for Singapore advice next time we fly through. I can't resist routing through Singapore just for the food!
Lateday - we had some visitors here in Oakland recently and on seeing the Scottish Rites Temple on Lake Merrit they walked right in and were given a private tour!

I used to have to go to Walthamstow to the Magistrate's Court [in fact I did my first ever case there!] I never even knew about William Morris's house, though I doubt that I'd have had the energy to get there after court anyway.
