Wedding in Orvieto
Our daughter is getting married in Orvieto next June. I'd like to arrange a day trip for some of my friends who will be arriving a couple of days beforehand. I was thinking a trip to Montepulciano and/or Pienza or Montalcino combined with a nice winery tour and somewhere for a scenic lunch would be fun. There would probably be 12-15 of us. Has anyone hired a private guide with mini bus driver or alternatively could recommend a tour company that would put together a custom day trip for us? Any recommendations on good wineries visit or restaurants with a scenic view? Any input would be greatly appreciated.

>>> You could also contact Hills and Roads tour company.
You have a large group. I have used Hills and Roads when I did not care to drive when I did multiple winery visits plus lunch when I wanted to drink wine. They are Siena based. If you go to their site, they state their fleet can hold 8 passengers max, meaning you have to hire two vans. Luca at Hills and Roads wooud respond to you if what you have in mind is a pipe dream. I had a memorable lunch at La Porta restaurant terrace in Montichiello. However, your group would be hard pressed to fit on their small terrace overlooking the Tuscan rolling hill.
A winery visit, especially a party of your size, would be a chore. Even for a visit for two of us, Hills and Roads and I had to look around quite many wineries which 1. integrated logically into the itinerary, considering 2. whether they would accommodate visitors at all on that day, and 3. had an English speaking host available. You cannot just walk into a winery and expect to be accommodated.
For a trip starting from Orvieto, Civita di Bagnoregio would be a simpler trip.
