Website needed for flights UK to Caribbean

Hi, we live in the UK and are thinking of a trip to the Caribbean but before I start researching which island, etc, I need to know which ones we can easily reach, either by direct flight or flight and ferry etc.

Does anyone know of a site which will show which airlines fly to which islands?

I've been looking at individual airline sites as well as Expedia, Opodo etc and it's very time-consuming, especially not knowing which island we want to get to.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Kay

There does not seem to be an perfect website for what you want. [ I found Thompson in the UK which offers multiple starting airports, but there is no option for multiple destinations. ]

If all you want to know is the existence of airservice (without cost), then OAG (Overseas Air Guide) used to print world maps with air routes drawn on them. OAG charges for everything however.

Your easiest route is probably to look at the travel columns and budget columns of your regional newspapers. They typically summarize the deals that they uncover in broad categories.

What airport would you fly out of and how concerned are you about price?

Hi KayF,

Try checking BA and Virgin Atlantic websites--they should have route maps. However, there are many more islands/destinations served by charter airlines. You can probably get travel brochures/catalogues.

You may want to consider the overall budgets, as some islands are more expensive than the others.

You can also check guide books or http://www.flightfind.co.uk/

Thanks, this is all really helpful. I did post on the Caribbean forum as well and got some info there as well.

To Big Red - we would want to fly out of Luton, Gatwick or Heathrow - that's in order of preference. Cost is a big factor, if it's all too expensive then we'd go somewhere else. We flew to Miami last year for about 250 pounds pp, flight only, so would be looking for something similar. That was with Virgin.

Thanks,
Kay

There isn't such a site. But BA - which currently claims to offer more direct flights to the West Indies than anyone else - now has a page devoted to them www.ba.com/caribbean.

Or just browse the "destinations" pages on the Luton, Gatwick and Heathrow websites.

Flanneruk - good idea, I hadn't thought of looking at the airport websites. Lateral thinking at work!

Thanks, Kay
