Want to tour Loire Valley without a car for a couple days. Suggestions, please!

We'll be in Paris for two weeks in May and are thinking of going to the Loire Valley for a couple days. I don't want to drive. What are our options? What tours are available from Paris? And, can we wait until we get there to book a tour? Thanks for all input.

You can't go wrong with ParisVision tours, located on Rue Rivoli right across from the Louvre. They have both bus and van tours, very reasonable. We've taken 4 of them so far--Loire Valley, Versailles, Giverny and Mt. St. Michael, and can't say enough good about them. We've always booked just a day in advance. Good luck!

We went to Tours last March. We were staying in Paris. We took the high speed train to Tours in the Morning and meet tourevasion ( http://tourevasion.com) by the train station. You can take a morning tour and/or a afternoon tour. We took both. It was wonderful. They take you by van to the chateauxs and you go in at your own pace to see what you want and then meet back at the van to go to the next one. At the End you can go back to Paris on the train again. Everyone we talked to had taken a Bus from Paris and they all said it took a long time to get to tours and then back to Paris on the Bus.

We took the speed train as well, very convenient, I think it took about 2 hours??, found the van tours at the train station and saw several of the chateaus, very easy, and convenient, found a bed and breakfast through the internet, took a taxi there, next morning came back to the train station, and shopped at the department store within walking distance to the station. One of the highlight of my 1st trip to Paris.

Thanks Howard for asking this question. I tried to post this question several days ago,but somehow could not find it later. We are staying in Tours 3 days after taking the TGV there from Paris. Just wondering if we can take the same tour from the train station in Tours instead of doing it from Paris. If not are there other tour companies there in Tours that would cover the chateaus. We will be staying very near the train station in Tours. We do not want to drive. Thanks anyone for your help.

To: Jean, Larry, Jenny and Mary Anne
You guys are great!
We're not sure if we want to spend one or two days there. Some questions for Jenny: What resources (i.e., websites) were helpful in finding a B&B? Was the B&B you stayed at in Tours? Did you take the van tours both days?
Any and all additional information will be most appreciated!
