Want to see an Opera in Venice or Florence
When my husband and I are in Italy in March, I would like to see an opera. But I don't even know if there will be any while we are there.
Does anyone have a link to schedules?
Which city has the better venue?

The Venice Opera (La Fenice) is performing in temporary venues while the opera house is being rebuilt after a fire. In March, Verdi's Attila is playing March 26, 28, and 30.
Nothing seems to be scheduled for Florence during March.
The best place to see an opera would be at La Scala in Milan. Poulenc's Dialogues of the Carmelites is playing at the beginning of the month and Bellini's Beatrice near the end of the month.

According to previous discussions on this board, La Scala is under major renovation and will be completed "sometime in 2004." The La Scala website does mention it, although it's in fine print. The performances are being held in another venue, apparently somewhere in the 'burbs.
