Walking trails in England
I apologize if this appears twice. I thought I hit post, but can't find it when I look at my page.
This summer we will be mostly cruising, but will have some free days in England. A few years ago we did some walking in the Cotswolds. This year we'd like to do some trails in some other areas of England. We looked at the tour companies, but have decided we don't want to be locked in. We want to just do this on our own. Does anyone know of a website that shows England walks for independents? Thanks to all.

There are thousands

Rights of Way - Walks Around Britain
thousands of kms of the things, I have one goes past my house, the Ebor Way.
Doing it on your own, for sure, use booking.com to book hotels ahead and pay a taxi to take luggage along for you, dead easy.

You don't say where you'll be starting from, but if London, then most of the major bookshop chains will have books on day walks by train from London. You can also access some ideas at
https://www.walkingclub.org.uk/book_1/
Or if elsewhere, try the Ramblers Association for ideas - you could try one of their group walks
Or there are companies that organise walking holidays from a country house base, in a group or self-guided (I've linked to one there, but no doubt there are others).

They mostly aren't called 'trails' but public footpaths. And they are EVERYWHERE. Just about every town/city/village/wide spot in the road/farm will have multiple walking routes

1. Decide which area of the country you wish to visit
2. Get yourself a good guidebook - these are very good Products Archive - Pathfinder Guides
3. Sort out accommodation and just start walking
Popular areas include the Lake District but marked footpaths are everywhere.

Some wonderful suggestions here! Thank you! It's one of the reasons I love this Board.
We are flexible on where we do these walks, that's why I wasn't specific previously. I'd love to find some good ones in the Lichfield area because we have a niece and her husband living there.

Oh, Lichfield would be a nice base for countryside walks. I'm sure your Niece can tell you what her favorites are. This list can get you started Lichfield walks to download and print FREE!
You would be about 10 miles to the National Trust Shugborogh Estate.

And less than 50 miles from Bakewell in the middle of the fabulous Peak District.
