Forgot about Bridgedale! They are also very good. I think they fit very well.
I wouldn't buy 'seconds' though as the fit might not be as good.

Cheaper than Smartwool and Bridgedale but almost as good are Fox River (I only have the ski socks but I wear them with my hiking boots in winter).

copper675,

Would you share with us your "perfect shoe"? I've finally found a couple of great pairs, but I'm always interested in what other people find since the right shoe is such a challenge for me.

Thanks!

P.S. For warmer weather, when I don't need "real" socks I wear the Nike elite running anklets. I've never found anything better for running and I love them for walking, too. Be sure they're the elite ones, not the regular ones.

ellen-
I have a pair of Privo Acacia's that are amazing, and my pair of Privo Trumpet's are in the mail. They are VERY comfortable, the insole has these 'massage' bumps that I like a lot. Also, after you've been walking around all day, the insole comes out pretty easily to be washed off, which can really reduce how much they smell (maybe that is TMI, but hey, its an issue for travelers. Plus, the shoes look wonderful, so I can wear them with a casual skirt, and still be comfortable and look good.

All- Thanks for the tips. I now have a pair of smartwool socks, and I love them! I'll be getting more before the trip, you can be sure!

+1 for merino wool socks. I do lotz of hiking and they don't smell after many days vs synthetic socks that stink as hell after just one day!

Can someone please tell me where I can buy the hiking smartwool summer socks(and other underwear) in Berlin, Prague or Rome? Thanks!!!

So nobody here knows where to buy smartwool socks in Rome?

I will begin my trip in Rome in July, and would like to buy a couple of smartwool socks for my 60 days -walking all day- trip.

Danila84,

Putting your question at the bottom of a 5 year old thread might be the problem...try a new thread perhaps?
