Walk up rail fares in Spain?
Hi,
I can see the train fares available for on-line purchase on the renfe Spanish rail website. But as I am not sure of the exact date of my journey I may have to just buy the ticket the day we travel - or possibly the day before. Does anyone know how to find these fares? Or anyone know them (approx)s? Probably Algeciras to Madrid, maybe including a stop in Ronda or Cordoba in early January, probably a weekday: Mon-Weds 3-5th/ £rd may be a bank holiday so may be extra (?).
Thanks

The fares are as posted on the Renfe website (www.renfe.com). What you can't purchase at the station are the discounted fares unless you have the senior discount card.

Next year, the first day of May is a Sunday. In most European countries, if a public holiday falls at a weekend, people do not get another day instead. This year, 25 December is a Saturday, but Britain is the about the only country where the following Monday is a public holiday. In Spain next year, 2 May may be a holiday in some regions, but is not an official national public holiday.
In Spain, all seats on long-distance trains must be reserved: you cannot buy a ticket without a seat booked for a specific train. You therefore need to be wary if travelling around a public holiday: trains can be fully booked a few days in advance.

OK thanks, yes I see it now, if I go to Timetables, Search, Query and Buy it gives both internet & station prices. But if you go to buy, sometimes there are even more discounts. EG Algeciras to Madrid has station price €69.90; net price €69.40; but on some journeys it's €41.60, or even as low as €27.70. But these reduced fares are only available on the 'net. Anyhow, at least I see the station prices now, thanks. Robert2533 - no I don't get the senior discount yet...
