Hi Susan, <BR> <BR>It shouldn't be TOO cold in October -- probably between 10 and 15 in the daytime. If you're going to be there for 3 weeks do expect some rain at some point! (But you probably knew that!). As for castles, most of them (at least, the most interesting ones) tend to be historic monuments. One place that isn't though is the Ruthin Castle Hotel (www.ruthincastle.co.uk), which you might like to try. And it's in the lovely town of Ruthin, a small market town with many timber-framed buildings dating back to the 13th century (as do parts of the castle). It's a good place for exploring north Wales, actually -- pretty good roads but still a little bit out of the way. Go to www.ruthin.com for more info! (and yes, I am from Ruthin). Oh, and just to confuse matters there's a Ruthin Castle Hotel and a Castle Hotel in Ruthin. The former is a castle, the latter is not!
