Visit a winery in Santorini

Has anyone out there visited any of the wineries on Santorini? Can anyone recommend a winery to visit at the end of August? Thanks.

We only visited Boutari but we liked it. They have a movie that's a little cheesy and there's not a whole lot to see on the tour, but the wine was good.

You might enjoy this: http://www.santoriniwinetour.com

Also, Sigalas Winery in Oia is small but has won lots of awards for their excellent wines.

I visited a couple of wineries, one being Boutari. They are small and not much to see but worth a stop if you are renting a car and doing an island tour. A nice stop for the view alone if on the way to Akrotiri.

Santo Winery is huge and has an especially great view of the caldera and sunset.

Yes, I agree with brotherleelove. Santo winery is wondeful! In the mornings, it seems like a lot of people from cruise ships stop in there as part of their tour. The view is amazing.

We rented a car and saw some of the island and 4 wineries. We partly choose these as they were near where we were exploring but with a car nothing is really too far away.

Volcan Wines near Kamari - Museum/Tour was really neat, underground caves with almost Disney like electronic puppet/scenes with an audio you listened to. 7Euro per person and you also tasted 4 wines. We then went to Canava Roussos, just down the road more towards the town of Kamari and Ancient Thira. Cute patio that we tasted at and 1.50 Euro per tasting. We liked the Vinsanto and another dessert wine was here. We also went to Santos, it's a little too commercialized compared to the rest but you can't beat the caldera view while wine tasting! This was just near the new port and we got the 6 wines with the cheese platter. Can't recall the price, but for quality of wines I preferred the others over this. Lastly we went to Gavalas Winery in MEGALOCHORI, you'll see signs as you drive that way for it. This was smaller then the other wineries but we liked the wines here the best. Boutari (I think that's right) was also on my list we just didnt' make it there.

I had checked some of these out on the websites and liked the smaller ones but definitely was glad to have stopped at Volcan and Santos.

We ended up visiting Santo Winery, and enjoyed it very much. The view is spectacular, and we especially like their Vin Santo, which is an almost sherry-like dessert wine. Thanks for all of your recommendations.
