Villas in Northern Italy needed
We are going to northern Italy in September with another couple. Want to fly into Milan and get a villa to stay in for one week to explore the area on day trips. Does anyone have a good suggestion? We will have a car and do not mind driving to a small town, centrally located.
There are so many web sites for this, you'll think everyone in Italy has turned their home into a rental! initaly.com is a great site for people who love Italy. Out of Conde Nast Traveler's Dec issue: www.thebestinitaly.com, www.domani-usa.com, www.overseasvillas.com, www.rentvillas.com, www.italianvillas.com. Then there is Karen Brown's guidebooks which look good too. Buon Viaggio!

Bob, I do like that name. Northern Italy
is a big place and I know it well. But,
you need to be more specific. You can do most of the Lakes from a single base
location, but if you intend to include
Verona and Venice to your trip then that would mean a different location---
closer to Lake Garda and Verona. I also
have access to most of the rental catalogs for properties in Italy. You may want to consider 2 locations to see
more of the area---but that would negate the weekly rental. Contact me
directly if you want more help.

Bob - If your interested in staying in the San Gimignano area and day tripping hill towns I have an excellent place we found in the summer of 97. We traveled with another couple and rented a 2 bedroom villa on top of a small hill with vinyards all around us with a view of San G's towers in the distance for $100per night. Also had a nice pool. Owners spoke no english and we no italian but had a wonderful time. Email me if you want more information. Regards Tom
