Totally agree with ellenem. This is sounding like a plan, but has no relation to what I was picturing by the original post of "go to Italy for a month and stay in various villas".

As Zerlina said, her "city" stays in Rome and Venice would most likely be apartments rather than villas. This would also be a pleasant mix of city and country. Though even when in Tuscany, if she were staying in the countryside and wanted to visit Florence for the day, taking a bus or train into Florence might be better than driving--Florence is a traffic nightmare. Therefore, her choice of Tuscan villa might take into consideration reasonable access to public transportation.

And as NeoPatrick says, this plan very different from four one-week villa stays.

They advertise them as villas on the website. It shows them in all 4 cities. I am beginning to think my friend needs to just plan this herself. I can give her the info I have obtained from you wonderful people. As much as I enjoy the web searches this one isn't fun anymore. I will stick to my own NY trip and Venice and London for a day. Thanks for everyones input. My husband really agrees now that it is a set up to end a friendship. Please don't feel you time has been wasted I have gleened much.

Well, I suppose there could be "villas" near Rome and Venice . . . though for Venice that would make me think it would not be in the heart of Venice, which is where I'd want to be if I were visiting Venice.

Sorry if we were in any was discouraging but glad you have concluded that your friend must take a little ownership of her own dream trip. Her dream trip may not be your dream trip. She can move on from your good beginning and ensure that her dream will be realized.

kmadsen, if you're getting all worked up and losing interest by people simply asking for specifics about where, how much, and what type of villas -- then you are indeed wise to pass on this project before it goes much further. And if you actually think this could be a "set up to end a friendship" (now that's a horrible thought) then you certainly should end this project now!
