Villas for 6
Has anyone had a sucessful search for a villa with 3 bedrooms and 3 full bathrooms in Tuscany and in the Sorrento area? I am finding a great number of accomodations for 6 with 1 or 2 baths which makes "waiting to go out" a bit of a problem.

I just returned from a villa trip in Tuscany. See my trip called 16 Day Trip Report: Rome, Positano, and Tuscany Day 8 for a complete description. We had three double bedrooms with three bathrooms. The villa actually has four double bedrooms with four full bathrooms (6 bathrooms total in the house). Go to www.hipvillas.com and look at Il Casello.

I think that the spectrum of prices for villa rentals is quite broad - - and with thre couples, each wanting a bathroom, you ought to be looking for a villa that can "sleep ten" or more.

It's not that copy-writers lie - - remember that "sleeps six" can mean one thing to a couple with four little kids - - and something very different from what you want.

Decide what you are willing/able to spend and then look at the bigger properties. You'll find the occasional property designed for 10, 12 or more well within your budget - - and it may have three "principal" bedrooms with nearby (or maybe ensuite) bathrooms - - as if designed for three (or more) families traveling together as a small group.

Last of all, remember that preparing "to go out" in these parts of Italy doesn't have to mean a lot of bathroom time for most people. You're traveling - - re-think all that primping and getting all dressed up.

And with a lot of villas having a pool, that can be a great late afternoon way to feel refreshed before dressing in something different (or the same clothes!) to go out at night.

Last of all, remember the website www.slowtrav.com - - for lots of input on villa travels to Italy and the villa travel lifestyle in general.

Best wishes,

Rex
We stayed last year at a wonderful villa -- San Giorgio -- near Poggibonsi. The villa itself is beautiful, and the view and grounds equally as stunning. There were three bathrooms. I notice that it is available for rental through a number of agencies. We loved everything about it -- the villa, the central location, access to other areas. Every morning I looked out the window and could see the towers of San Gimignano.

For those who think 'You're traveling - - re-think all that primping and getting all dressed up.' here's a message: some people don't find it burdensome to shave appropriate parts of their body, use soap and deodorant, change their clothing, etc. during vacations. Some people like to look like extras on "He-Haw", others don't.
