Villa d'Este, Villa Serbelloni and now ....

A new extraordinary 5 star hotel has opened on Lake Come across the water from Villa d'Este - http://www.castadivaresort.com/en/

Has anyone stayed there?

And the owner of the original villa was Giudetta Pasta, the famous Norma, hence the name....

Looks good--open all year.

Yes I know I am pedantic, but I am immediately put off by the solecism in the first paragraph of the website, where the plural of "Package" is given as "Package's".

Quote: Join us celebrating the opening of Europe's most exciting Resort and experience the luxurious spa treatments, spectacular golf facilities and delicious cuisine on the shores on one of the most romantic lakes in the world with our Special [why the upper case?] tailor-made Package’s [sic].

If I had noticed that I would have had the same reaction...spend all that time and money building up a brand, with a fancy website, and have ridiculous spelling/grammar errors. My question now would be: If this if pointed out to them, would they care enough to fix it?

I live in Cernobbio. Will go through the site with a fine tooth comb and if I find enough errors I will cross the lake, point them out and try to get a free meal!

By the way the name in Italian is Giuditta (Judith) which reminds me of one of the funniest films ever produced - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0095869/. If you can get hold of it it is absolutely priceless. Roberto Benignini (Oscar for Life is Beautiful) is Giuditta and Walter Mattheu gives a masterly performance.

I will look for that! Many thanks!

If you love opera, and you do not sneer at camp, you might enjoy this film:

Let us know how you enjoy the food! Lucky you to live in Cernobbio!

Too isolated for me. And pricey. 600 euros a night for a double at the end of October, not counting the car rental that I think would be a necessity.

But I'm happy for people who like this sort of hotel.

Too isolated? It is virtually opposite Villa d'Este and just over 3 miles from Como.

Its proximity to Villa d'Este has nothing to do with what I see as being too isolated for me (notice I said 'for me' again). There's no frequent ferry service within walking distance, so I'd need a car or use taxis and buses to get around. For me (again), that's too isolated.

But I'm happy for people who like this sort of hotel.
