Vienna cruise where to stay night before departure

We are going on a Christmas market cruise departing from Vienna. We will arrive the day before the departure and are wondering where to stay that would be convenient and affordable.

Look at hotels on Booking.com for Vienna in Innere Stadt, historic city center, so you can enjoy Vienna in your brief stay there. Ringstrasse circles that area and many hotels are located there, a varietynof price ranges. Take a taxi to the boat dock.

I assume you realize Vienna has great Christmas markets... And scattered in the city. I have wanted to take a Christmas market cruise, as the markets in this area are great. Where do you stop?

We start in Vienna, go to Melk, Pasal, Regensberg and end in Nuremburg. Then we fly out of Munich.

I am less familiar with the Christmas in that direction. Budapest has lovely markets, as does Bratislava. We generally go to the markets in Vienna each year (the nicest markets being spread about, not all in one place). For buying, I like the vendors in amhof.

I could recommend a hotel in Hernals, which is quarter not that far from the centre. Easy and not that expensive. As far as I remember it is simply called 'Hotel in Hernals'.

Several docking areas exist in Vienna.

The main and most convenient area is by the Reichsbrucke known also as the DDSG Station. Public transport access by the UBahn line U-1 Vorgartenstrasse stop , then a good walk. Not recommended with luggage. Best to transfer by taxi. The taxi can take you direct to the gangway.

The other is found in the Nussdorf area of Vienna. This in the northern most part of Vienna. A good walk to nesarest transport Streetcar D stop Nussdorf. Again best by taxi.

Look to stay in the city center / First District. best choice of hotels, dining.
Numerous Christmas Markets.

better ones are at Schonbrunn Palace , Freyung

Much information including hotel lists and Christmas markets at city website
