Vienna: Classical Concert Ticket Agencies

Any suggestions for a well-connected, reputable ticket agency would be most appreciated. Looking for tickets to performances at the Musikverein. Thank you.

hi
www.wien.info seems to have a lot of events and concert listings, and links to order tickets
Your hotel may also be able to order for you.

I don't know when you are going and how much time you have, but a little homework should get you the music hall address. I have bought tickets (while in the U.S.) directly from the Musikverein by credit card, with a "will call" provision to pick up. It was never a problem.

If you have lots of time, get a set of literature from the Austrian tourist agency (www.experienceaustria.com). They will send you lots of stuff in the mail, including concert schedules, and you can then order tickets to the performances you choose.

Or, with or without the aid of the literature, you can ask your hotel to get tickets for you, as already advised. Good luck.

La Boheme at the Oper from the American

We attended a concert at the Musicverein last May. We did as Wayne did, reserved through their site (https://www.musikverein.at/), received an order # by e-mail and they held our tickets until picked up at the box office earlier on the day of the performance. Charged to a credit card and it all worked out fine.

We watch the PBS New Years from Vienna every year and it was very special this year since we had actually been there in spring.

Thank you all for your advice. I realize that I can get my tickets directly from the Musikverein; however, it is a bit of a risk and I want to have other options... My trip is planned for the fall and is predicated on attending two concerts (not the Vienna Philharmonic). As I sure most of you know, single tickets do not go on sale until 3 weeks in advance of the performance date. My biggest fear is booking this trip, paying for an air ticket and not getting the seats!!! I thought a back-up plan or two might be in order... All that said, I'm staying at The Sacher and understand that they have an amazing concereige. Perhaps I should be putting this in his hands...

Now you've got me worried, Flyer. I will be in Vienna for only one night this July. On Musikverein's site, I was able to register for e-mail notification as soon as single tickets go on sale for the concert I am desiring. Are you saying this is risky because tickets sell quickly? So, even with e-mail notice, I may be out of luck? Yikes.

Peggy, As I understand it, many Musikverein concert are very heavily subscribed, particularly the Vienna Philharmonic concerts. I gather concerts do sell out. I suppose, even on a sellout, there's always a chance of picking up tickets at the last minute. I, however, would like to avoid that kind of cliffhanger scenario.
