Vienna Apartments for 5 - please help!
We're planning a last-minute trip to Vienna (leaving in 1 month) and we have a group of 5 adults, staying in Vienna for 6 nights. I have gone through 3 years' worth of threads here regarding apartments in Vienna. My understanding is that the listings on www.apartment.at are quite reliable, even though it's not a rental agency but rather individual owners posting their apts for rent.
The DUSCHEL apartments @ Opernring seem to get a lot of positive feedbacks here. I love the location but even their largest 3 bedroom apartment only has 1 bathroom (though the toilet is in a separate room).

Another one we're considering is at Brahmsplatz just off Favoriten Str in the 4th district; closest U-bahn station is Taubstummengasse. I'm not too familiar with that area, is it a fine neighborhood (i think yes)? Another concern is there's no review for this apt whatsovere. However, it is a 4BR, 2BA apartment so there's plenty of space for 5 of us, though we understand it's less convenient than the Duschel apt.

I know the Augarten Apt gets good reviews here, but their largest apt is only a 2BR, 1BA; which is a bit small for 5 of us.

Are there other apartments and/or websites you can recommend in case the ones I mentioned above are not available? (I just emailed the owners tonight, so I haven't heard back yet.) We really would prefer 3BR and 2 Baths if possible, and willing to pay 250euros/night for the apt.

Hi yk; I think you know this web site, [Vrbo] but you could look and consider these two apartments. www.vrbo.com/59846 and www.vrbo.com/13658 iris1745/dick

Hi iris1745 - thanks for your help. Do you have personal experience with these particular apts or owners? The 59846 will work for us, but I think the 13658 is too far out.
I've read in previous posts by Operaman here to avoid VRBO (he didn't say why), so that's why I haven't poured through the listings there.
Thanks for your help and wonder if anyone else have other suggestions?

Hi yk; No personal experience with this owner. However, you could get in touch with a previous user. On the apartment '59846', go to guess comments and find the people from VA. Then go to www.whitepages.com/ and use the man's name and adress. You will pull up both man and woman's name at the same address with the same telephone number. You could call them. iris1745/dick

Hi:
Several years ago we stayed in an apt in the 7th district called Rothensteiner apts. Very nice family building and good location. There is a Bila supermarket nearby and we walked almost everywhere (should mention that we are avid walkers). There is a bus very close by. They have 3 bedroom apts with 2 bathrooms and the price includes breakfast which is kind of nice compared to making your own. I just checked Trip Advisor and the reviews are good.

GO FOR IT!
We stayed in the Apartment 1 Opernring 2 years ago. You will NOT need a car....the U is incredibly close, and you can walk absolutely everywhere in every direction. There is a small grocery store half a block down Elisabethstrasse. Mrs. Duschel answered a million and one questions we had before we even got there, and can arrange for transportation to the apartment for a small fee.
The Duschels now have a larger apartment on Elisabethstrasse that looks pretty good. Here's the link. I would go for it.

ps if you like apple streudel, go to the Aida on Opernring across the street from the opera house. It was awesome!

Thanks to all who replied so far.
Unfortunately, I heard back from the Duschel family and they don't have any apartments available during our time period. The Rothensteiner apts are very nice, but really a bit too expensive for us. And I have yet to hear back from the owner of the Brahmsplatz apartment.
In the meantime, we have located another apartment which is available during our time, though it is less convenient near Westbahnhof on Mariahilfer Straße (it's actually a bit west of Westbahnhof). But that seems like our best option right now given the price and the size (3br, 2ba). We have sent out a few more inquiries and are waiting to hear back from a few other owners.
Let me know if you have any other ideas. Thanks!

Hi yk; Off topic, but I have seen that you are a concert goer. Our friend's in Austria have a boy in his last few months in the Vienna Boy's Choir. His section is the Haydn choir. See www.viennaclassic.com for the the complete concert schedule including the Boy's choir. iris1745/dick
