very basic euro questions
My upcoming Ireland trip is my first trip to Europe since the euro arrived. Is there a sub-unit of the euro (like cents or pence)? Do they have nicknames, like shillings, quarters, dimes, centimes, etc.

Euro and cent. Not aware of any nicknames yet anyway, although it is sometimes jokingly referred to as "Monopoly" money. When here, you may notice some people inadvertently refer to something in Pounds or Pence. It's just force of habit, especially among the older generation.
