Versailles Closed Monday & 3-day pass question?
My wife and I are planning to be in Paris the last Saturday and Sunday in Sept, and then leaving that Monday a.m. for Bayeux. We had tentatively planned to visit Versailles enroute to Bayeux on Monday a.m. However, I recently learned that Versailles is closed on Mondays. So I was wondering if we purchased a 3-day museum pass in Paris on Saturday whether or not it would be good at Versailles on Tuesday, since we'd otherwise be able to use it there on Monday, but they are closed? I would suppose it's not likely, unless they make some kind of exception, being that they were closed on the 3rd day of our pass. So I was just wondering if anyone might know. My second question, then, is if the 3-day pass is not any good for us on Monday, is it still advisable to buy the 3-day pass for Paris on Saturday and Sunday? Anyone had any experience or have any ideas that might be helpful? Thanks.

The pass is still good for Monday at some museums but if you are going to Bayeux then you won't be using it. However to bypass the lines at the Louvre and Orsay, the pass is definitely worth it. You might just want to pop into the Rodin,Cluny,Carnavalet, St. Chappelle on your way to something else.

There are no exceptions on the three-day pass rules. If Saturday is your first day, then it's only good through Monday.<BR>As for cost, you might as well get the three-day pass. It costs 30 euro. Since a one-day pass is 15 euro, your cost would be the same as if you bought two one-day passes.

Where do you buy these museum passes? Are they only valid for Paris or for museums all over France? And I also remember seeing that if I use my Ontario Teachers' Card that I can get into museums free. Is there a student rate that applies to University students?

Mike - Garden access was 3 euros per person. I believe the fee for the King's Chamber was 4 euros per person. (The latter includes an audioguide.)Our teenagers had free access to everything we visited with the exception of the King's Chamber for which they were charged 4 euros as well.
