Verona - what not to miss?

Hello lovely people,
I am visiting Verona on Tuesday next week for 3 nights from the UK. So, basically 2 days. The weather looks like it should be warm but rainy. If the weather does permit I am hoping to visit Lake Garda by train one day ... but if not we will just laze around the town.
Is there anything we shouldn't miss? Restaurant? Wine bar? Church? View? Something else?
I am travelling with my daughter and staying at The Grand Hotel.
Many thanks,
Frances

You might consider viewing the arena; a walk along the river can be interesting; go as far as the Basilica of San Zeno. That "balcony" is dubious as I am sure you know.

Love Verona. The things that are most memorable to me (although not the highest rated tourist attractions) are:

Arche Scaligeri and
Castelvecchio both having to do with the Scaliger family who controlled Verona back in the day. The most important was Cangrande (that is, "Big Dog") della Scala, one of Dante's patrons. All over Verona you'll see symbols of a grinning dog running up a ladder, which symbolizes him.

Ponte Pietra--neat old bridge over the Adige.

The church of Santa Maria Organo. It has inlaid woodwork described by Vasari in the Renaissance as "the most beautiful in the world." It's a little bit out of the way, but worth a trip.

We had a very delicious meal at Al Pompiere. Reservations needed but worth it.

I meant to add that this was at the beginning of September. I don't like restaurant recommendations from too long ago.

Next week the opera season will pretty much be finished I believe so there may be a lot fewer visitors.

The "balcony" is a fun people-watching place and only a short walk from the central area. Go have your picture taken leaning on Juliet's boobs. Everyone does it, and it's free.

Verona has some of the finest Romanesque churches in Northern Italy. Don't miss San Lorenzo, San Zeno, San Fermo, or the Duomo. Small intimate masterpieces.

Enjoy your stay. I have been to Verona mainly for the opera performances but when we did venture out to see other things we enjoyed ourselves. The place never was "crawling" and that was nice.
