Venice--What is going price for water taxi?
Does anyone know how much I might expect to pay for a water taxi from cruise port to center of Venice? And for a water taxi from hotel near Saint Mark's Square to airport? It might turn out to be a reasonable option since I am traveling with a group of friends. Thanks.

We've used both water taxi and alilaguna. Alilaguna is cheaper but is very slow...over an hour easily from the airport to San Marco. It depends on your timetable. We used water taxi from Lido to the airport at 4:30am and it was 120e. Nothing else was available at that hour of the morning.

If you have a group, I think it's the way to go.
Several years ago we were a group of eight, and I think the price was 80 or 90 E. Anyway, I believe we paid 15E a person, which included a tip.
The ride in is a beautiful entry into Venice!

With a group , a water taxi is the way to go. But I am not sure what is the max per boat.
Also, there was some discussion here as whether a tip was necessary or appropriate. I sensed that most thought it was not. Of course, some Americans will insist on tipping no matter what the local custom.

You better check on that for a party of 10. I "think" they only allow 8 people per boat. We had 5 people in our water taxi and with luggage we could have fit a couple more people (with luggage), but definitely not 10.
