Venice Web Cam - sending picture home to Mom
Right now the sun is setting and this looks beautiful:

Do you know of any other Venice Web Cams? We have stood in front of web cams at ski resorts in Tahoe and had our family look at us on the net. Anyone try to do this is Venice or somewhere else?

This is a hard one to stand in front of and really be seen ... unless you were born in Bethlehem about 2,000 years ago.
Go on over and look at Slow Travelers. There you will find a bunch of loons who not only carve time out of their vacation to stand in front of web cams, they ask other loons to watch them live despite the time-zone differences!

I'm looking at the 6:33 a.m. picture with the sun coming up. Very nice. Here is another site with that web cam picture and another of the Rialto Bridge which, if the picture is in true color, is absolutely stunning.

Also to be found on this site are some 360 degree pictures of Venice.

Ronda,
I spent a lot of time looking at these very images before our trip. You will be amazed, upon your return, how much of a different perspective you will have when you look at them. You will know EXACTLY where everything is.

I forgot to mention to try this one. After you get to the link, scroll down the page and find the Venice satellite image, then click on it and enlarge it to 800 x 600. Really nice shot to get a grasp on where everything is.

I saved this as my desktop for some time before our trip and had even drawn a yellow line thru the canals showing the route we were going to take for our vow renewal.

Secretary of War:
Gentlemen! Gentlemen! Enough of this. How about taking up the tax?
Firefly:
How about taking up the carpet?
Secretary of War:
I still insist we must take up the tax.
Firefly:
He's right. You've got to take up the tacks before you can take up the carpet.
Secretary of War (now exasperated):
I give all my time and energy to my duties and what do I get?
Firefly:
You get awfully tiresome after a while.

It was in Cocoanuts that Groucho sang, "I'm Captain Henry Spalding, the African explorer. Did someone call me 'schnorrer,' Hooray! Hooray! Hooray!"
Sorry, Rufus, your inventive name got me memory going.

Whatever happened to this cool site for Roma - you could move the cameras to choose a view...and take a snapship to use as a screensaver. I can never get it to open anymore...
