Venice Weather

Wow, it sure seems like Venice is getting a lot of rain lately! Is that typical winter weather? (I've been checking the Webcam sites.) Does Venice get snow ever? I would not like being there during this weather. Oh, yes it is nice to experience their typical weather throughout the year, but I think I would prefer warmer, sunnier days.

It snowed when we were in Venice on November 26...was mixed with a bit of rain and wind as well. BUT -- that was the worst weather we had during our week (which began on November 19). Other than that, it was dry and sunny (albeit chilly). Have been to Venice in summer, early fall, and late fall...and late fall is my favorite time to go!

Thanks for your responses. Rufus, thanks for the weather site. It gives a lot of info. Ira, I guess I won't be going in Winter, but isn't that when the Carnival is held? What on earth would that be like? All the crowds and (maybe rain)?

Hopefully there will be crowds at Carnival! A Carnival or Mardi Gras celebration without crowds would be nothing.

Hi P,

If one is planning on visiting Venice during Carnivale, one doesn't worry about the weather.

While researching our trip coming up during the first week of Feb we found that even though it will be chilly (stats show around 40 degrees roughly for highs) the averages for rainfall show the highest months as:
Nov. 3.4 inches
August 3.3
June 3

Actually the lowest months are:
Feb & Dec with 2.10 inches

Carnival 2006 is from February 17-28.

With that being said, I began this thread a couple night ago:

Ahhhh, for every journey, sometimes a little rain must fall. I still think Venice is worth it during any season!

Best wishes, Tiff
