I need information on travel from Marco Polo airport to the Hotel Danieli. The hotel has informed me that it is about 85 Euros. Is there a less expensive way to go? I did not know Venice was so expensive! Any help would be appreciated!<BR>

Evidently, the Danieli has quoted you the typical cost of a water taxi, and that is per taxi, not per person.<BR><BR>You have (at least) two other options: the vaporetto system, which is slower, a little bit cattle-car like and costs only a few dollars (the exact price depends on whether you buy a single ride, a one-day pass or a mult-day pass - - you'll probably want oe of the latter). But it is perfectly enjoyable, and actually scenic in a certain sense of the word (especially the part down the Grand Canal - - if you go by way of the train station, you're guarasnteed to travel the Grand Canal).<BR><BR>Or an intermediate option (which I have never personally used) is www.alilaguna.com which is smaller and thus more personal, a little more expensive, and modestly quicker, I'm pretty sure.<BR><BR>Best wishes,<BR><BR>Rex<BR>[email protected]<BR>

Well Rex, not exactly. Cathe, the fastest, easiest and most expensive option is the water taxi for 80-85e. That's probably the way most people who stay at the Danielli travel.<BR>Next is the Alilaguna, as Rex mentions. It's a water bus (not small &amp; personal)about 10e/person. It makes a stop at San Marco which is very close to the Danielli. Takes about an hour because it makes other stops along the way.<BR>Finally, there's a bus that takes you to the train station (St Lucia). From there you'd take a vaparetto (water bus) down the Grand Canal to the san Zaccaria stop in front of the Danielli. This is the cheapest option.<BR><BR>If you do a text search here for Venice AND transportation I think you'll find other threads with exact prices for option 3.<BR>Vaparettos (local Venice water buses) don't go to the airport.

My mistake was in commenting on the two less expensive modes, when I have actually only ever used a water taxi. Never actually arrived by air in Venice; departed once through the airport, and used two taxis for our group of eleven. That made the price seem reasonable.<BR><BR>

Hi Cathe. The &quot;Alilaguna&quot; water bus runs from Marco Polo to Piazza San Marco. It's slower than a taxi, but only costs about 10 euros.

I was under the impression that Starwood, which ownes the Danieli have a water taxi that goes from the airport to its hotels, I think that I saw this info on their website.
