Venice transport questions
Two varied questions on transportation in Venice; any help is appreciated.
1. I've seen some posts on the EuroStar Club. What is this and why is it interesting for an infrequent traveler like myself? Is there a fee? Is it literally a club with chairs, drinks, facilities and so on, or is it like a frequent traveler club?
2. I have been to Venice, but don't remember seeing traghettos. Where are these located? How does one know that the boats are traghettos? How much do they cost? Any other information on traghettos is much appreciated. Last time we just hopped the waterbus (bought a three day pass) and found a stop on the other side of the canal.

Hi md,
Traghettos are gondolas that take people (standing up) across the Grand Canal.
The Streetwise Guide shows them at
San Marcuola, Campo San Sofia, Riva de Carbon, Corte de Magazen, Campo San Samuele, Gritti Palace on the E side of the canal.

I just searched and searched, then finally found this link. It looks to contradict some of the names IRA but I haven't referenced a map as of yet to see if the general vacinity is the same. Looks like cost is .40 euro.

Traghetti routes are typically indicated on maps, and it's not difficult to figure out that they're traghetto boarding/departure points because you'll see people standing in gondole.
It's cheap and convenient. You don't need to think too hard about it---if you want to cross the Grand Canal and there's no bridge nearby there will likely be a traghetto point in the area.

Alrighty,
We took the traghetto's on this past trip (in the last week). Great idea and time saver.
Cost: .50 euro
You do not have to stand, we sat along the edges of the boat
Near various Water Bus stops, there are "Traghetto Signs" in green on each side of the canal, and these traghetto's cross from one point to the other.
These can be found NEAR the following stops.
Between Salute & San Marco
Near S. Maria del Giglio; specifically from C. Del Traghetto and Campo del Traghetto
Near C' Rezzonico; specifically from Calle del Traghetto and Campo S. Samuele
Near S. Toma; specifically from Calle del Treagheto Garzoni and Rio di S. Toma
Near San Silvestro; specifically Riva del Carbon and Riva del Vin
Near Ca d'Oro; specifically Campo S. Sofia and the end of Camp D. Pescheria
Near S. Marcuola; specifically Campo S. Marcuola and Sal. Del Fondaco Del Turchi
And the last one is by the train station, and goes between Fondamenta Di Santa Lucia and Fondamenta di San Simon Piccolo
Hope this gives you a better idea.
