Venice on Sunday

We're planning a weekend in Venice next week, and I just wonder - what is open on Sunday? I would guess it is touristy enough for shops and museums to be open - but are they?

Thanks!

Mass is celebrated in Basilica san Marco, so it is closed for usual tourist visits during that time. but you can attend. The entrance is on the side away from the lagoon for mass celebrants.

As with most any church, there is no specific requirement to be Catholic. Respectful behavior, of course is the right thing to do (i.e., no photography or videography without some specific prior arrangement).

Best wishes,

Rex
Museums are open, Doge's Palace is open starting early am. Everything in terms of sightseeing but the churches. Some shops yes, many no.
More shops stay open on Sundays in high season.

Vicki,

Elaine has some excellent files about Venice and other places if I am not mistaken. You might ask her to send her the collected information she has.
We were in Venice last weekend and it was unbelievably crowded....worse than it was when we were there in July. My advice is to get as far away from San Marco as you can.

just like you know it's not allowed to rifle through Vicki's suitcase and steal her underwear when the "maid" is in the room.

but you'll do it anyway.
