Venice odor?

With all of the flooding in Venice, I was wanting to know if anyone been there of late? I had a few people tell me that it smells more than usual? We are going in May and mold is a problem for one of us.

You don't need flooding to worry about mold. After all, the city is built on water, and many buildings have constant seepage on their lower floors. Some people allergic to mold don't have a problem, while others do. I think you would reduce exposure if you stayed in a hotel in an area least prone to flooding and requested a room on a higher floor. Look at the lighter colored areas on this map:

If you're still worried, you could stay on the mainland in Mestre or perhaps on Lido.
