Venice Hotel Under US$100
Hi there

I am after some tips on accommodation in Venice itself for less than US$100 a night for a double. There are lots of places in the guidebooks, but I was wondering if anyone had stayed somewhere exceptional? If so, the name of the place, a bit about it and the price would be fantastic. Share facilities are fine - I would happily sacrifice the luxury of my own facilities for a great view or location. ([email protected])

Thanks for your help!
The message thread "Desperate for hotel suggestion in Venice" - - I will top it for you - - though it was quite "fresh" when you posted this - - has many good suggestions.

http://www.fodors.com/forums/crossro...messagesframe&

Best wishes,

Rex
We stayed at a wonderful small hotel on St. Marks square for about $97.00 per night, prime and I mean PRIME location. However, no canal view, no elevator, no b-fest... small room.... but it was right in the heart of everything, I found it in Frommer's guide
It was called Hotel Ai Do Mori... and I don't believe they take credit cards either.

Among all budgets hotels I've used in Venice in the last 30 years, the one that boasted the best value for the money was the Caneva. I haven't been there in a century, but unless somebody that has been there recently advises strongly against it, I'd return hands down.

Paulo

stayed three nights at the hotel florida in venice in may. ninety bucks for two including breakfast. hotel located about a block from train station which for us was great. something to think about is gettin to your hotel with the luggageso if you are coming by train it makes it easier. plus vaporetto stop was fifty feet away
