Harriette,

Coming from NYC our standards and prices for food is pretty high so what we consider reasonable might sound expensive but the buffet at the Metropole was very ample and we found the food to be very good, especially if you want a little bit of everything.
They have different menus. The night we went it was a Venetian buffet and it had soups, salads, pasta, , veal, duck, and lots of different seafoods. The buffet also included house wine and dessert all for 36 Euros per person. The prices in Venice are very high and we easily could have spent 72 Euros on one appetizer, Entree and wine per person and not had as good quality foodand not to mention entertainment. It was definately one of our better choices in Venice.
I believe the buffet runes from 8 - 10, and you can arrive any time. I am not sure if the offer lunch. Have fun!
Thanks Sherry--I also live in NY so I would say that sounds really inexpensive.

They also serve lunch. If the weather is nice they set the buffets up in their lovely garden.

Is the price of 36 Euros the same for hotel residents and non-residents?
