Has anyone ever stayed at the Hotel Astoria in Venice, Italy? If so, how was it? How about Hotel Ai Mori d'Oriente? Thanks in advance for replies...leaving tomorrow.

I wonder why someone would solicit feedback on a hotel for tomorrow?

Haven't stayed in either one of them, but am leaving later this week for Venice, and do know that the Hotel Ai Mori d'Oriente has received superlative reviews on www.tripadvisor.com. The 15th cent. palazzo where the hotel is located used to house Turkish traders, hence the hotel has gone with a Byzantine motif throughout. It's located in Cannaregio, and the rooms look very well appointed. Hotel Astoria is located around Lake Garda, but don't know anything about it, you might do a search on tripadvisor to see if there have been any reviews.

Thanks Spygirl. I read all the great reviews on tripadvisor for Ai Mori so I think we will look that one up when we arrive. I saw photos of Astoria on someone's photo gallery of Venice on pbase and it looked really neat, but I can't find any info/reviews on tripadvisor so that scared me off a little...was hoping someone had first hand info. We will just walk around and see what we can find. Thanks so much for your input.

Velo-I just checked tripadvisor.com and there are 2 complaints about Hotel Astoria in Venice on the Venice forum, so I think you would be well advised to seek out Ai Mori d'Oriente. Buon Viaggio!
