I haven't stayed there, but the Bel Sito has a great location, 5-6 minutes from San Marco. They used to not have an elevator, don't know if that has changed.<BR>

Another hotel has just made it to my list. Hotel Gallini has just quoted me a rate that is Euro 50 cheaper than the others! Which would you choose?

I just got back from Venice. I stayed at the Hotel Marin, across the bridge, behind the "green dome". I look for location when chosing a hotel. Even though I travel light, I did not want to slup onto a vaperetto with luggage. Hotel Marin was walking distance from the train station and or bus station. It was actually fun walking to San Marco Sq. following the yellow arrows. Bellini is also very close to the train station, not sure where the others are located. Hotel Marin is a clean, friendly with an english speaking staff (family run) and breakfast is included.

I was in Venice in the end of Apr. We stayed in Hotel Galleria, right next to the Academia Bridge. It is a great location with reasonable price. Good size of room.

Pensione La Cacina (on the Guidecca canal, Zaterre vaporetto stop, near L'Acadamia bridge, 10-15 mins. walk to San Marcos). Absolutely lovely place. www.lacalcina.com

Julie - I would not recommend the Locanda Ai Santi Apostoli at all. The owner is kind of eccentric. He even tells you how you should hold his key's so his threads don't break. We had one of his best rooms (over the canal). Although the view was nice, the floor made my husband seasick and worst of all - there were sugar ants all over. I think you can do much better for the money.
