Venice flood levels?

Does anyone know if Venice is still flooded? Also does anyone have a good link to check conditions, we were going to visit there next week? Grazie

Flood levels are unpredictable, they vary according to wind, tides, rainfall... Look to youtube for pix, people seem to like to post what they see when they see it.

Often a least part of the city will flood just for several hours when the tide comes in - St. Mark's square, even into the cathedral. They set up platforms to walk on. You might want to take some shoes / boots that will stand some water. Some hotels give out big rubber boots to use I think. I always pack plastic bags and rubber bands to use, if I need to. Don't know how it works, have never had to use them.

Actually, Venice does not have tides as we normally understand them. The difference between high & low tide is often only 25cm (say 7&quot.

The Med has very limited tidal effects - the water level is more dependent on atmospheric pressure and wind.

You can check current conditions by looking at the webcams here : http://www.veniceword.com/webcam.html

Better clarity is obtained during daytime !
