Venice flood levels?

Often a least part of the city will flood just for several hours when the tide comes in - St. Mark's square, even into the cathedral. They set up platforms to walk on. You might want to take some shoes / boots that will stand some water. Some hotels give out big rubber boots to use I think. I always pack plastic bags and rubber bands to use, if I need to. Don't know how it works, have never had to use them.

Actually, Venice does not have tides as we normally understand them. The difference between high & low tide is often only 25cm (say 7"

The Med has very limited tidal effects - the water level is more dependent on atmospheric pressure and wind.
