Venice Chorus Pass for Churches is a Great Deal
Admission to many of Venice's beautiful churches is no longer free. However, there is a discount pass which allows ONE entry into each of 15 Venetian churches over a two year period, for the price of 8 Euros. Regular admission is 2.50 Euros per church, so the pass represents a good deal.
The churches covered by the pass are:
1. Santa Maria del Giglio
2. Santo Stefano
3. Santa Maria Formosa
4. Santa Maria dei Miracoli
5. San Giovanni Elemosinario
6. San Polo
7. Santa Maria Gloriosa dei Frari ("Frari")
8. San Giacomo dall'Orio
9. San Stae
10. Sant'Alvise
11. Madonna dell'Orto
12. San Pietro di Castello
13. Santissimo Redentore
14. Santa Maria del Rosario (Gesuati)
15. San Sebastiano
NOTE: Entry to SS. Giovanni e Paolo is not included in this pass, and the entrance fee is a flat 2.50 Euros, but well worth the cost. Entry into St. Mark's Basilica is free, but you must pay to see the Pala d'Oro, the Treasury, and the Museum within the Church.
You can often visit these churches, free of charge, by arriving prior to 9 or 10 a.m., or after 5 or 6 p.m., when the ticket booth is unmanned.
Contrasted to the mob scene outside of St. Mark's, entrance to these other churches requires no standing in line whatsoever.
Anyone who sees all 15 churches in a single day should receive a medal.
