Venice (Cannaregio) and walking at night?
We will be staying in the Cannaregio area in venice (at Locanda Ca' Le Vele, which no one seems to have heard of) and was wondering, since I've never been to Italy, if safety (a couple walking around late at night) should at all be a concern.
Thank you.
Thank you.

As a female solo in Venice, I felt very comfortable walking around the city, even at night. And as for your concern about your Locanda, there's many little hotels in Venice -- possibly it's fairly new? Have you browsed through other travel boards to check for any comments? Granted this forum does get more traffic than others, but it's worth checking on Frommers or Rick Steves or Lonely Planet re: that hotel. Also look on the Trip Advisor (www.tripadvisor.com)

Cassidy,
I plugged in the name of your hotel and on the "Venere" hotel website they say that the building was restored in 2002 > http://www.venere.com/cgi/hotels/pgw...;&ref=3926
I'm guessing the building was refurbished and turned into a Locanda; so it may be a "new" hotel.
