Venice - Airport to Giudecca???
Hello Fodorites:
Need some help getting from the Marco Polo Airport to our hotel in Giudecca. What is my best option. Traveling with my wife and some luggage.
Also, best way to get from Giudecca to the Port of Venice for our cruise a few days letter? Any specific vaporetto or water taxi recommended?
Thanks everyone!

Hi RRT,
which hotel? it will probably have information on its website telling you the best way to get there, or will answer an e-mail if you ask them. Ditto how to get to the cruise port. you will not the first client to ask this question!

Travelling on a vaporetto with a lot of luggage is really NOT a good idea. These are like city buses and tend to be very crowded - with people hopping on and off quickly at each stop. If you have more than a singe carry-on it can be difficult to find room for all your luggage and may be difficult to get on and off quickly while people are streaming around you.
If you have several bags each I would pay for a water taxi to avoid going through that hassle. (Pulling luggage across the gap between the vaporetto and the dock can be difficult if you can't pick it all up at once and step across.)

Take the vaporetto form the airport to Zattere stop then switch to the hotel's boat.
Have your camera ready as you approach San Marco!
Very nice hotel, I stayed there for 5 nights. Great exec lounge. Go up to the roof pool for some good photos.

water taxi = EXPENSIVE / vaporetto, I hope your luggage is manageable. I think you can take the Aliguna to from the airport to the Zattere stop - it would be less crowded / hectic and a great introduction to Venice. If you decide to take a vaopretto, you will need to get from the airport to Piazzale Roma by bus or taxi.

How much luggage do you have? Can you each pick up all of your bags and step across the water from the boat to the dock in a crowd of people? Many people going on cruises have more than one small bag and a carry-on - and significant luggage on a vaporetto would be even worse than trying to take it on a city bus.

it is a 5-10 minute walk along a covered walkway from the airport to the water dock for a water taxi or the alilaguna to the Zattere, so you will have to be able to manage your luggage yourselves this far at least.
according to the molino Stucky website [I'd rather guessed that's where you'd be staying] it's the blue alilaguna line, which will also take you to the cruise boat dock. here's the link:

As annhig says the blue line of the Alilaguna goes right to the Hilton.

I believe you can also take the Alilaguna from the Molino Stucky to the cruise terminal (one stop). I don't know if they would charge the full fare of 15 euros, but you could certainly ask them. Perhaps the folks at the Hilton know.

-the website says that the trip to the cruise terminal is €7 pp.-
That is a great deal.
Yeah I think the Hilton probably knows where their bread is buttered, when you go to their website there is a picture of a huge cruise ship on the home page. That Alilaguna between the Hilton and the cruise terminal makes it pretty convenient (I imagine the boats are pretty emptied out before they get to Molino Stucky anyway.)
