Venice accomodations?

Hi, looking for a reasonably priced place with a non-smoking room, private bath to stay in Venice in December with my husband for less than 150 euro/night? Suggestions?

Hi Karen,

My daughter and I were in Venice May of 2007. We rented a two bedroom apartment from this site:

www.wenicevenice.it

It is located in the Dorsoduro area of Venice. I checked their website and the smaller two bedroom rents for 120 euros per night and perhaps less for a full week.

The only possible down side is that there is no elevator. We had no problem with the stairs but some might.

The apartment is in a lovely area and the gentleman that owns it is very considerate and kind.

Happy Trails,

Susan

I can recommend this hotel:

http://www.hoteldabruno.com/

and/or any of these apartments (same owners):

http://www.venicehr.com/

Great location, affordable rates and personal attention by the owners. No intermediaries.

You are lucky - the off-season rates in December give you a lot of terrific choices. I just checked Hotel Ala (great location, and really quite a lovely hotel) for the middle of December and was finding rates for under 110 euro. Also just try going to Venere.com and putting in your dates for Venice and see what comes up - I just checked and was really surprised at the winter rates that are available.

If Locanda Orseolo works for you price wise, of course it is a fantastic choice. If it's too pricey, even at that time of year, consider checking out Domus Orsoni, in the Cannaregio area.

I think that Hotel Mignon is what you are looking for.
It's cheap. I don't know the price in dicember but I'm sure it's less than 150€ per night.
It's in a wonderful location. Cannaregio is a typical area of Venice only 5 minutes on foot from Rialto Bridge and 10 minutes from Saint Mark's Square.
And it's really romantic with its rooms in the Venetian style.

We stayed at the Hotel Bisanzio in Nov 2008. I think we paid about $120.00 a night. Nice smaller room with private bath. They do have an elevator and the location was great. It's about 5 min from St Mark's Square and real close to the Alilaguna boat dock that brings you in from the Marco Polo airport.

Hotel Riva or Casa Rezzonico (sp?) Both good budget choices. Riva has amazing location, above two small canals. Be sure to ask for the canal view.

We recently stayed at Casa Santa Maria Formosa, which was lovely, clean and has a great location just off Campo Santa Maria Formosa, about 5 min. fron Saint Mark's square. I checked the December rates for a double, and they're great rates (and much less than we paid in Sept): 97 euros for a canal view, deluxe double. http://www.casaformosa.com/en/index.htm

If your stay is for 3 nights or longer, consider an apartment. I like having the extra space and the option of eating some meals in. I have stayed at this apartment several time and love it-

This apartment is located on the Grand Canal and has received very good reviews-
