Venere reliable?

Has anyone experienced any problems booking lodging directly through Venere? Would you advise doing it?

Do they require prepayment or do you pay at the hotel?

What about their cancellation poicy?

Thx.

The last time I used them, IIRC, they asked for a credit card number to hold the reservation.

Cancellation policy depends on the hotel as to how many days ahead you may cancel.

Their website isn't working at the moment.

You can also get the rate information from venere and contact the hotel directly and ask them to honor the same rate or arrangement. They often will.

I had a problem with my booking dates 'mysteriously' changing on venere last night. I put in June & it kept changing to JULY & reducing the # of days! I sent a note to the site- good thing I verified the dates - I would have been peeved when I arrived at the hotel!!

I have used this service many times. I use it often when I am booking at a small locally owned hotel that I am not familiar with because of their great cancellation policy. I often change hotel plans on a trip and need a reliable hotel booking service that I can access on the internet from internet cafes.

I found them unreliable 2 years ago, but perhaps they have improved. I booked a hotel that was no longer affiliated with venere, but they didn't bother to tell me that. I only discovered it when I grew concerned about not receiving a direct confirmation from the hotel after several weeks. Venere never bothered to answer my emails on the subject, so I eventually contacted the hotel directly.
