Vatican Tours - has anyone missed out?

Hi

Lots of questions being posted on how to arrange the Vatican tours via the fax route. We were successful last October - however our fax arrived only a couple of days before the tour. We booked in early August.

I think it would be helpful to know:

Has anyone been unsuccessful and how long in advance did you book?

I posted a similar question about a month ago and never received a reply. Perhaps that means that everyone who has ever done the fax route has always gotten a tour.

I know we got ours and it was great.

hi, sarowinner,

don't remember seeing this exact subject before - else I'd probably have posted.

I never got as far as waiting for a reply - I couldn't get my fax to go through - and tried many times.

Eventually we gave up, and queued up with the hoi poloi. I would try again if we go to rome, as i really want to see the vatican garden and I beleive that this is the only way.

regards, ann

I sent the original fax several months in advance. We then changed our hotel, so sent an update about 3 weeks before the desired date. Received the fax at the new hotel 2 days before the schedule (fairly normal from what I understand).

As to "how" to fax, you just have to keep trying, sooner or later it will go through.

I have an efax and used it to send a fax to the Vatican last week. Got a response in two days with our confirmed time slot for October 1. Keep trying
