Van Hire
I need help with van hire. I am planning a family trip in July 2016. Does anyone know of a company that hires 11 seater passenger vans in Marseille? We need the vehicle for one week.
We would like to pick up in or near Marseille and drop off in Monaco (or nearest to). 7 days hire.
thanks so much

Vans come in 12 and 15 passenger (not 11 that I know of) but a 12 passenger isn't large enough for 11 plus their luggage. A 15 passenger van is ENORMOUS. You might be better off renting two cars instead -- at least one of them mini-van/people mover sized.

If you have a car license then the max persons in car you can have is 8 plus the driver. 9 in total. Class B
If you have a something equivalent to a bus then you can have a larger vehicle. 16 plus the driver. Class D
Classes are stated in the following link.

So what is your permission in your own country?
Do not forget you may also need an IDP.

Take a look at Autoeurope:

You might want to inquire about any special licensing that may be required to qualify to drive a 12 to 15 person van.

Unless you're talking about a pack of children of senior citizens I would definitely go for 2 vehicles. This has a couple of advantages:
No one has to drive a huge vehicle in streets that may be very narrow - or find a place where it can be parked
The entire group doens't have to be joined at the hip every moment - which is likely to get very old with so many people
