Val d'Orcia

Hello,

My husband and I are traveling to Italy for our 2nd anniversary and will be spending a couple of nights in the Val D'Orcia region (San Quirico). Could you recommend any places to have lunch or dinner at in the region?

Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Thank You!

What a fabulous place you have chosen to visit. I personally think this is one of THE most beautiful spots in Italy.

Not in San Quirico, but in Montalcino, not too far away, is a wonderful restaurant that has many fans on this board, and others, called Grappolo Blu. Reservations are probably necessary, depending on when you plan on going.

As for other places, I have never had a bad meal anywhere in these small towns in Italy (although I did have many bad ones in big cities like Rome and even Venice). So basically just go to the small "ma-and-pa" type places and you probably won't go wrong.

Have a great time.

Please try La Porta in Montichiello for lunch. A reservation is a must for the patio outdoors otherwise you're unlikely to get a table. The view of the countryside is spectacular...one of my fondest memories.

Hi Lina,

I can also highly recommend Grappolo Blu. Also, Latte di Luna in Pienza was very good. I had a poor service experience there, but my meal was excellent.

Buon apetito!
