Vaison la Romaine hotel suggestions
I'll start a new topic as you have given me some suggestions on sights to see and places to go to round out our trip to Provence. So, we start in Nice, go to St. Remy and then to Vaison (if I can find a hotel!) and lastly to St. Paul de Vence before leaving from Nice 10 days later. Any suggestions for hotels in this small town would be most welcome.

I didn't stay there so have no personal experience but I seem to recall a couple posts on folks who have stayed there. This is one and may have some good advice, even if you don't want a B&B:

I was considering staying there once and seem to recall one of the most well-regarded hotels was kind of up on a hill so maybe a bit tricky to get to/from. I believe it was this one, mayb e you can check reviews on TA or somewhere

here's a good article but seems to name the same place only

This is another place I was considering and it is actually not in Vaison-la-Romaine but nearby in Gigondas. It's recommended in Sawdays. Would be a less hectic place to stay and an easy base for driving around.

Great information. Funny I was going to send you a private message to thank you for your insights on my previous post but can't figure out how to do that.
I did look at L'Eveche briefly but thought I'd check with you experts for others as well.
I will check them right now to see availability and rates!
Thank you

dont' worry, glad you found it helpful. I don't leave my email public on Fodors, that's why you can't do it. Fodors doesn't have private messaging (like TA) so you have to post your email address which I don't care to do.
Maybe someone else will have some ideas.

In 2012 we stayed at La Fete en Provence which was in the old part of the city. Our GPS couldn't find it so we had to ask directions. It doesn't really have a street address in the ordinary sense. It was a building with 2 foot thick walls. Our room was not fancy, but was clean and even had kitchen facilities. During the day we had to park outside the city wall and down the hill a bit, but it was an easy walk. At night we were able to bring our car right up to the hotel. The small restaurant associated with the hotel was superb. I would suggest it as an option even if you aren't staying there. You will need reservations. I think our room was 75 Euro and I don't remember about dinner, but it was extremely reasonable.

I stayed at the L'Eveche B&B on a trip to Provence several years ago. It was quite nice as I recall, but a little difficult to get to, as it is high up in the Medieval town. I parked on road below and wheeled my bag up to the B&B. I didn't dare drive up there on the narrow one-way road. The walk up was OK, but would not be if you have any kind of mobility issues. At my age now I wouldn't want to! The hotel up there, the Bellfroi, looked quite nice, but with the same issues of difficulty getting to.
Of course if you aren't nervous with the drive up, that would be better. But both of those are nice places to stay in Vaison-la-Romaine.
