I would appreciate feedback from anyone who has dealt with this group. Are they reliable? honest? did the apartment match the description?

Thanks all

basingstoke2- I am currently signed up with them for an apt. for October. They have been very responsive via phone and email. I recently finished paying the full amount and they promptly sent me all of my check-in information. I think others on this site have had good things to say about them, also.

You might try searching 'vacation in paris' and see some other threads where they are mentioned.

good luck!

Hi basingstoke2, we (a family of 4) rented an apartment from them for 5 nights in 2004. All went very well---they were very professional and easy to deal with, and everything was exactly as promised. I particularly liked the fact that we could pay by credit card--no need to do a bank transfer into an unknown person's account. The key and precise directions for arrival were sent to us ahead of time, and all we had to do was show up and let ourselves in.

The apartment we rented, the Eiffel Hideaway, was not fancy, but it was clean, the bathrooms were up-to-date, the beds comfortable, and everything worked. We did not have any need to call the on-site concierge for problems, so I can't speak to that aspect of their service. There were no hidden charges or surprises at the end. I would say they are definitely honest and reliable.

If returning to Paris, I would use them again.

enzian - Eiffel Hidaway is one of the places I am looking at. How did you like the area? I am not familiar with it because when I would walk to the Eiffel Tower I would come from a different direction - from Rue Troyon.

We loved the location---a block off Rue Cler. My husband would walk the one block to the corner bakery every morning, to pick up fresh croissants for breakfast. And then again for fresh baguettes for dinner. After dinner each evening we would walk over to the Champs de Mars to stroll and enjoy the view of the Eiffel Tower. There was a very convenient bus stop nearby for access to the Marais and other areas we wanted to visit. We never used the Metro, so I don't know how convenient it is to that.

Some things you should know about the apartment itself:

It is on the first (European) floor, and you reach it by a very tight spiral staircase. There's not much of a landing at the top before you open the door to the apartment. It's a bit tricky with luggage, but OK after that.

The kitchen has what you need to cook simple meals, but is very small. The dining table (seats 4) is right there in the kitchen.

No view. From the bedroom, the window looks out to a blank wall a few feet away. The living room and kitchen windows look out on a narrow street in frnt of the building. But somehow the place seems to have enough light.

The bedroom has a queen-size (I think) bed which I recall being quite comfortable. The other sleeping area is a daybed-trundlebed combination in the (small) living room. This accomodated our 2 teenage girls quite nicely--they could separate the 2 pieces and get as far apart as possible!

The bathroom off the bedroom has just toilet and sink. The other bathroom, by the kitchen, had a shower/bath combination, and seemed recently updated. They only provided one towel per person, which was not enough for the girls. Shopping opportunity---we bought them each a souvenir Parisian towel at a bed and bath store.

If there are just two of you, you might consider the studio apartment just downstairs from this one---it has a patio, which we would have enjoyed during our April visit. But if you are going in winter it would be of no benefit. They also have another apartment in the 7th with a view of the Eiffel Tower, but it is newer than our visit and I'm not sure exactly where it is.

Thanks enzian- the apartment downstairs was our first choice but is booked for our dates. Should I assume that things were nice and clean?

Nice and clean---yes.

Fancy or luxurious---no (but we don't look for that).

A bit "close" but much more spacious than a hotel room.

Overall, just as represented by the company, which we found to be honest and reliable.

Once we settled in, it was "our home" in Paris, and we were happy to have found this affordable place in such a great location. And every time I read here about issues like trusting someone on VRBO,. or sending $$$ deposits off by bank transfer, I am glad we chose this palce with none of those issues.

Thanks enzian for the very helpful feedback. We just signed up this a.m. with Vacation in Paris for the studio on Blvd. Sebastopol. We would have preferred the studio below the apartment that you rented but it was taken. The one we are renting has just been renovated and was on a promo at a very good price. The location does not have the pizzaz of some others but we see it mainly as a place to sleep.
