VacationinParis #235

http://www.vacationinparis.com/apts/id_235.htm

Having just read "mixed bag" comments on this company, i am taking advice of someone on the forum who recommended posting a specific query. Has anyone stayed here? I love the neighborhood , and the website photos look great...but there's nothing like real, personal feedback. Thank you in advance for any thoughts.
(Note--iseeking info on the flat, not the company itself)

It looks really nice! I'm curious about reviews, too. I'm looking for a one bedroom for December, 2011 in this area for myself, husband, and daughter.

Looks great and a fantastic neighborhood We stayed at a VIP apt, just up the street from there . Lots of cafes and service nearby and good transportation. I also saw the comments on VIP and was surprised as I've often dealt with them with great success

I've made a note of the # for next spring

Having just read "mixed bag" comments on this company

From where? Vacation in Paris get's very good reviews from most Fodorites. I've used them and would recommend them in a heartbeat. I know you said you are not interested in comments n the company, but the quality of the company WAS your opening statement...

Have not stayed in #235, but the location couldn't be better.

from other people on FOdors, that's where. I've read them and made a few myself, although I had bad dealings up-front with them so decided not to rent from them. Others have had no problem with them. But they are not perfect and don't have a perfect record.

We just had a splendid experience with Vacation in Paris. Exceptional in every way.

With vacation rentals in Paris, everything turns on the particular property you choose and the owner/agent of same. Often, there is little, if anything, rental companies can do if something is amiss or goes wrong, other than drop that listing once they're aware of problems.

There are a lot of contingencies involved and it's a huge leap of faith, but when it goes well - it's AWESOME!

thank you, Christina . You took the words out of my mouth.
Bardo, I have read many good but some negative. You're right about that being the opening statement on the post. The reason i wanted comment on the flat, not the company, is that i'v already seen the numerous comments on the company.
I have called them during previous trips, but used other places because of availabilities. The phone folks in NJ were always helpful and patient. This time, however, I was concerned by some rather poor customer service via the phone. Let's put it this way...if they had one of those "stay on the line and give us a number from 1 to 5 where 5 is completely satisfied" the woman I spoke with on three occasions would get a 2 at the most.
Since the dates for #235 are perfect for us, and I LOVE the location, it outweighed the hurried and disinterested phone interactions. ANd hopefully, my experience will be great...and i'll be sure to let everyone know. BTW, this is for next summer.

Primarily here: BTW, check the actual photographs near the end of the thread, you'll see the "ruined view" of the eiffel tower the OP complained about. When you look at the two photographs, you can tell that the one with the crane actually blocking the eiffel tower is a significant zoom shot taken at the exact time the crane was perpendicular to the tower.

If you're interested in budget apartments in the great locations of Paris, you'll probably like VIP. The are not generally something I would consider luxury, nor would I consider them full service - from the standpoint that VIP doesn't own the apartments themselves, but broker them out of New Jersey, in Dollars, with the key delivered to you before you depart to Paris. The service from the owner will depend upon the owner.

My personal experience with them in 2006 was excellent. I'll likely be using them in March. Just to give a different perspective.

Thanks to everyone for your replies!!! Much appreciated. Keep comments coming, whether you'v stayed there...or just have thoughts on the flat and its location.

DJK, I responded to your other answer about your great experience with VIP, and your experience with PP.
Your comments above are sooo true, about leap of faith, when it goes well, etc.

We had a pretty bad experience with a private rental in the Marais--with numerous glowing reviews on his VRBO website--and I've become much more wary since then.
On the other hand, we rented from another "mixed bag"reviews agency in London, waited to exhale when we entered... and had a fantastic, great experience.
Ya pays your money and ya takes your chances!! those
