Using Contactless Pay with Apple Pay in London

First of all, the TFL systems have no way to know your actual credit card number. That is one of the security designs of Apple Pay.
Instead, when you put a card into Apple Pay, a DAN or Device Account Number is generated for it.
But I don't know if the same credit card on two different devices will generate the same DAN. I'm guessing probably not.
The other question to consider is, if there's a couple and one goes through the turnstile with a contactless card and hands that card back to his or her partner for them to use, would TFL systems allow it, to have the identical card tapped through the entrance of the trains, at the same station, within seconds of each other?
Some transit systems have restrictions preventing the same ticket or method of payment from being used on the same turnstiles at a station within a certain time frame. In case they have unlimited passes, that pass isn't shared among several people.
And isn't the TFL allowing the daily and weekly limits on the same card, PER PERSON, not for that card itself?

Hmm ... since my 6th April post I tried using Apple pay again on the London Underground, and it was rejected. My Barclaycard Visa credit card with a contactless feature worked fine.
As I understand it, the charge you pay is determined by using the same contactless card when leaving the tube as the one you used when entering. That's how the system knows how far you travelled. I don't know what would happen if more than one person used the same card, but I wouldn't care to try it.

Yestravel, Visa works fine with Apple Pay for me too. In fact I used it with my iPhone three times this weekend alone. It just didn't work when I tried to pay for my ride on the tube a few weeks ago. Not wanting to hold up other passengers, I used my contactless card instead.

... so I assume it was Apple Pay and not the Visa card that was rejected. Tried it twice, and got an amber light and a rude buzz both times. My contactless UK Visa card was accepted straight away. Think twice before trying Apple Pay at a busy underground station!

I've read accounts on Flyertalk that a MasterCard in Apple Pay works on the TFL.
I know that the TFL specifically tried to accommodate Apple Pay. According to this article, over 3.2 million trips on TFL in the first 6 months of Apple Pay:

OK, one other question I have is can you use Apple Pay on buses?
And do the daily and weekly fare limits also apply to bus trips or only the Tube?

Interesting, scrb11 ... Apple Pay definitely worked on the tube the first time I tried it. My US bank switched from MasterCard to Visa since then, and I now have the Visa card in my Apple Pay Wallet. That may explain why it didn't work the second time.

Re weekly capping, it looks like contactless payment only caps fares from Monday thru Sunday, so if your visit starts midweek..?
