US flight into CDG - how much time should we allow in order to get the TGV?
Thanks to all who've posted such detailed instructions on purchasing TGV PREMS tickets via the sncf website! We're getting ready to buy ours this evening for our outward leg (CDG to Avignon TGV). I know it's always a bit of a crapshoot as far as international arrivals and passport control time, but does anyone have general ballpark recommendations as for what to expect on a Tuesday morning arrival (10:10am) from the US into CDG, if we're not checking bags? -- Would it be a safe bet that we could make the 11:42 train? The next one's not til 1:52 so if we can avoid it, we'd rather not have to hang around the airport that long. Thanks!

I think that would be really tight, but can you post more details such as your airline and arrival terminal? It could take 30 minutes after you clear passport control just to get to the TGV station depending on which terminal. Also depends on what time of year you're making the trip.
For example, I've been making an annual trip in Feb and the AA flight is only half full. I'm off the plane and through passport in probably 20 minutes, then another 10 minutes or so of walking to the TGV. No problem, but I'd hate to risk it in high season.

I like to have at least 2 hrs. Our direct flight from SFO was 1 hour late this past June. If you can get really cheap PREMS and there are only 2 of you, why don't you purchase tickets for both trains. If you arrive at a terminal other than 2 - it may take longer to catch the train.

That time frame is very tight and would stress me out. Our flight arrived on time last year but it took over an hour to find an open gate and then there was trouble with the jet-way. I have never had any problems getting through passport control, etc...it is usually quick but there are no guarantees.

Thanks, folks! Appreciate the counsel - we'll opt for the later train as we don't need to get to Avignon by a specific time. (for those who asked, we're flying USAir from IAD via CLT, so it looks like we arrive at Terminal 1).
