Kerouac - No supermarket near me in the 9eme of Paris - and I have four major supermarkets - carries the type of brown sugar necessary for baking. They have that weird blonde sugar, which is sort of light brown color, but it is a granulated sugar and not the same as the packable sort I need for recipes. The last batch of brown sugar I picked up was in an Asian food store in Bonn, Germany. Who would have thought? In any case, if you find it in your local Monop or Franprix, consider yourself lucky!
