Hi everyone,

We'll be in Paris in 10 days and we're running out of time! We used priceline for most of our stay in Paris but it won't accept our exact bid for the 29th and 30th of this month! These are the first 2 days we land in France from Egypt. I was thinking that maybe it would be best to stay at a hotel near/at Versailles (and thus see the Palace at the beginning of our trip?). We won't have a car, we're too large a family to take one taxi (5 people) so we want something convenient to mass transport (thinking about taking the RER from the airport then head to Versailles). So, the ideal hotel would be off of the RER (or metro) and near Versailles.

Does anyone know of such a hotel? Oh, of course, ideally it would cost less than $110 each room (we need 2 rooms so total $220 a night). Any ideas? Any recommendations?

The entire Accor hotel chain is having a sale right now, and a room at this Novotel looks to be 94E per room, a bit more than your budget but at least you'd all fit into two rooms.

Another Versailles hotel in the Accor chain is the Ibis, more in your budget range at 64E, but unfortunately each room can only sleep 2.

It is very easy to reach Versailles via the RER C line, which has Left Bank stops near many of the major tourist sites. The RER C line stops near Notre Dame at Place Saint-Michel station. the D'Orsay, Ivalides, and the Eifel Tower.

Just something to consider as an option.

5 is not too many for a taxi at the Airport or a train station. Just go to the taxi queue and they will put you in a van taxi.

We recently had a nice stay at a charming non-chain hotel in Versailles that is walking distance from the train stations Versailles Rive Gauche (RER C) and Versailles Chantiers (SNCF trains) as well as the chateau - http://www.hotel-berry.com/ Looks like they would meet your budget requirements.

Unclear...the 29th and 30th are your first 2 days in France after visiting Egypt..what happens after those two days?

As stated, you could stay near the RER-C line, for example near Notre Dame or Eiffel tower areas. It is not a long ride out to the chateau.

If the whole of your stay is in Paris, a stay In versailles might be a nice change.
