Unexpected Hotel Guest
First, let me say, I am not a troll. I am a single guy, 37 yrs. old and going to Paris and Rome for 2 weeks this spring. My question is this, if I am fortunate enough to meet a young lady who is not adverse to spending some time in my room, will I be charged for two people the next day, or do the front desk people even notice? I don't want problems.

Honestly, I don't think anyone at the front desk will notice. But, besides the remarks that you are going to get about practicing safe sex, the other things that you should be careful about are your room key, wallet, money, camera, tickets and passport. If there is a safe in your room, be safe and use it -- put your valuables in the safe before you lose your head.

Its grossly unfair for people to give flack to Ken. He asked an honest question. He's an adult, and the female that would join him would have to be consenting. What's the difference in having a one night stand at home after you meet someone in a bar, or doing the same in another country, but staying in a hotel room? I know many people that have checked into a hotel room for the night just to do what Ken hopes will happen. I can't believe that there are Fodorites who have not had one night stands in their own homes. Just remember what you did when you were in college and in your twenties before you start making jabs.

Hi Ken,
the charge of the room is a minor problem. Usually as a single u have to pay the whole room, except maybe a small charge for breakfast.
I'm worried about the goods you may leave in your room - if they are stolen,is much more expensive than to charge anything else, and all the stress with police, embassy, creditcards and so on.
No girls on your room please ! My advice as traveller with experience in russia.
Shain/Germany/Düsseldorf

Ken, You will have no problem at all.
Being discreet will get you far.

To some of the posters here: who has said anything about prostitutes? Why would you assume that? And even if you assume sex-for-$, why didn't you think Ken might be the one charging?

That is all -- you may now resume listening to the Dr. Laura radio show.

Well Leslie, thank you for coming to my defense...you really took some flak for it and I'm sorry to see that. No, I wasn't thinking of prostitutes, I have met women who seem to enjoy being with me without cash involved and you know, the unexpected sometimes happens. It never hurts to be prepared! Thanks for advice.

Leslie, isn't it amazing? the way a person is considerate enough to read a post, think of a response, post it and then feel they have to defend themselves from the insults of other loser posters who have nothing to contribute but all the time in the world it seems to roam this forum and attack people.
