Umbria Farmhouses recs: Canina, del Colle, Titignano, Rosati, Cinciallegre etc
Hello all,
I've lurked on this message board for a couple of weeks and have culled lots of valuable information--thank you!
However, I still need help narrowing down my choices for Umbria farmhouses. The most important things are great food, family-style dinners, authentic Italian farm experience, and a good base from which to explore the hill towns--all in all, a good place for two people in love.
Here are my choices:
Antica Fattoria del Colle
Rosa Canina
Fattoria Titignano
Locanda Rosati
Le Cinciallegre
Casale dei Frontini
Titignano sounds lovely except it doesn't seem like much of a farm. The rest I can't find any postings on.
Thanks in advance!
Carly

Titignano is not a farmhouse. It's an old family "castle" with incredible rooms and views. The food is wonderful. I don't think it's a particularly good base for exploring, since it is some distance from the main roads. We very much enjoyed our stay there.

Yes, Titignano is a medieval borge/castle, but also a working farm that produces its own wine, cheese and olive oil. It is more isolated as it is surrounded by national park land. I wouldn't recommend it if you want to be minutes from other towns in Umbria or southern Tuscany, but we have stayed there a couple of times--don't mind a little scenic driving plus it's a fantastic place to relax. It's about 25 minutes to Orvieto and 20 minutes to Todi. It all depends on what kind of experience you want to create. Good luck.

We stayed at Malvarina, which is a working farm on a hillside just outside Assisi. A very beautiful and relaxing spot. We had dinner there one night, and it was the most memorable meal we had in all of Italy -and that's saying something!

Thanks for the Titignano specifics and for the Malvarina rec--I was looking into that place too.
I'd love to know something about these other places...I can't seem to find reviews on Slowtrav, Trip Advisor, Fodors, or a Google search in general. Maybe less info is better? Maybe?
