Ugg or Ugg tupe boots for touring
I tried on a couple pairs of these yesterday and was amazed at how comfortable they are. Your feet feel happy. The popularity of these boots seem to be worldwide.
Has anyone thought about using them as Winter hard touring shoewear? Does anyone own a pair and can testify?
I know some people hate them as they are such a phenomenon. Payless does a $24.00 version that feels no different than the higher end.
I know this is pretty frivolous in the light of this week's events, but I guess the forum needs to keep moving.

I bought my first Ugg boots 15 years ago in New Zealand. In time, I wore them out. I'm about through with my second pair.
Like so many things, you get what you pay for when it comes to sheepskin boots. Ugg is just one brand. Others that look like them may come cheaper, but they don't hold up. They come apart at the seams, they aren't as well made, and they are made of smaller pieces of sheepskin. I've even seen them made of artificial sheepskin, sort of a plastic material. Save yourself some money; buy the real thing. After all, those are YOUR feet you are taking care of.

I am wearing mine right now....I hate to admit I haven't worn much else since buying them, it's so easy to slip them on and go...I bought them for 2 trips in the cold to Canada and Wyoming and even after walking all day and standing up my feet felt great...I am very happy I got them regardless of the hype, they really are comfortable..I usually wear different styles Doc martens which I have worn for the last 15 years and only on my 2nd pair of boots and first pair of low tops...so I like investing in shoes that will last a long time...be careful with sizing..I bought my Uggs online and I wear a 9 and bought a size 8 that fits perfectly...wait~you said you tried them on, so you already have that worked out...

They do look comfortable and warm, but I've got a pair of handmade Swiss Kandahar boots that are also incredibly warm and comfortable (and waterproof). I wore them constantly during my winter 2004 trip to Vienna, where it snowed or sleeted every day, and they help up extremely well.

As with any sheepskin/suede, their appearance would be spoiled by getting wet : I won't wear mine outside if it is raining or snowing as I want them to keep looking nice for as long as possible. But I'm sure that if you could afford to buy a pair and throw them away after touring, your feet would be very comfortable.

Hi - I've bought mine online since many places sell out for months. (I understand the Pink Classic short are backordered until May).
Anyhow - in NYC you may want to try Davidz on Broadway in Soho (i've ordered them online from www.davidz.com -- great site). I think the Bloomingdales in Soho still has some (they did on 12/23). Not sure about uptown -- rarely get up past 14th St. Also - try the official website - www.uggaustralia.com. Another website that has them is www.zappos.com (great shoe website).
I've got Ugg slippers, Ugg short books in black & lilac, Ugg tall boots, and Ugg waterproof all weather boots. For the past couple of years these are my all-time favorite footware -- the most comfortable boots/shoes I've ever owned. Kind of like wearing your slippers all day. I don't care if they go out of style, I'll keep wearing these for years.
(I swear I don't work for Ugg -- just really love the boots
)

I dont think they will ever go out of style as alot of us of in California have had these for years!! I have had my black UGGS for 10 years now. They have been through just about everything. I at one point did have them re-dyed.

At the risk of sounding like MK2 (!) let me share a quote from todays Independent newspaper...
"However, the most crucial thing is that we all retire our Uggs to their final resting place. It's over, with a capital O."
Of course, be that as it may, I hope you find your boots and are very happy with them! (Chacun a son gout!)

Wednesday, that's interesting that your Uggs have weathered well. Do you religiously spray them every time you go out ?
Islandbeach angel : you refer to Ugg waterproofs as if they are different to the regular Ugg boots, which is what I have (tall ones). How are they different ? Are they still sheepskin ? Thanks.

Hi caroline, I don't spray them, but they haven't been drenched or submerged yet beyond few inch deep puddles and light snow either...plus I haven't had them even a year yet, so 'weathered' for me only refers to a few select wet outings

ok, now I know why that sounds so dumb...I was sitting here thinking about it and I thought I had read that they were treated when purchased....that's why I was like , "spray them ?"....But now I am checking the site and the tags where I swear I read it and I have not found it yet....maybe it was on the paperwork from the vendor...

Hi Giselle,
I have a pair of the Uggs midcalf boots that I bought to keep my feet warm at work. I love them, but I am not sure they are good for a lot of walking like one does on vacation. They do not appear to be sturdy enough around the ankle and the sole. Uggs does make different styles and some of the other styles appear to be the type that are made for a lot of walking in all kinds of weather. Good luck in your search for a pair.

Elaine, Olive & Bette's carries them as well. Don't know where you are in the city, but they have stores both uptown and down...http://www.oliveandbettes.com/
I was in their Bleeker street store a couple weeks ago and they had STACKS of them around the register...I guess a new shipment had come in.

I think Uggs look funny but feel fabulous!
Then yesterday in some fashion magazine, I read that they were OUT
I have seen more UGGS worn by young women in short skirts in California and Florida, and not that many in NYC .. don't know what that means, but thought I would top your thread for you
